I love music. It’s really not a secret. But there are somethings I won’t listen to and somethings I’m a closet listener. I’m not nuts about the 80′s music. I really didn’t pay much attention to it back in the day when it was popular. However, my sister Lori loves it. When we were in Austin this weekend, she, the SIL and I went out to this little place where a band called LC Rocks was playing. They are a throwback 80′s cover band. The female lead singer reminded me of Kat Von D with her tats. The rest of the band looked like rejects of Motely Crue, Warrant and White Snake. They were good, I’ll give them that, but 80′s is just not my thing.
I can readily admit that. And I’m ok with it. Now that doesn’t stop me from having White Snake on my I touch. But here is the next thing that makes me think.
There is a certain something in songs that make you stand up and take notice. I’m not sure what it is about a song because the most random songs can make you love it.
Perfect examples are Lose Yourself by Eminem, Meet Virginia by Train, Edge of Desire by John Mayer. I love these songs. Eminem sort of lately has fallen off my radar. Until the Chrysler Commercials. And I was instantly reminded why I love that song.
Train is a love, I heard Meet Virginia and I was lost. I have always loved them since then. They aren’t flashy just really mellow. John Mayer is come and go. I like most of his stuff but I don’t know what it is that makes me reluctant to buy it. Edge of Desire was a Pandora thing. I plugged him in and it came up with this song. It’s one of my most played according to my I Tunes.
So what about you? Is there something in a song that makes your ears perk?
